There are a variety of ways to incubate yogurt and a variety of yogurt makers on the market. I still use my old Salton yogurt makers and they work just great after all these years. The problem is that the lids are plastic and have aged over the years to the point of being brittle. I used to buy replacements on sites like eBay until I found a simpler fix. I now use mason jars in my yogurt makers.
Half pint jars are perfect for the original Salton yogurt maker and wide moth pint jars fit perfectly in the “family size” yogurt maker.
These are the same jars I use when incubating my yogurt in a water bath. Since I already use mason jars for canning it is like getting replacement parts for free!
