Grain Storage

Grain Storage

I package my wheat two different was depending on how much I have.

If I have just a little, I package it in 64 oz jars and suck the air out of them.

This is the attachment I use for that.

If I have a large amount, I package them in gallon mylar bags with 300 cc oxygen absorbers and put them in old cat litter pails.

The pails are not airtight but the bags are. I put them in the pails to protect from things like rodents. This bag was not damaged by rodents but by a curious and/or hungry cat.

The date on my packages is the “use by date” but I am quite confident that the grain will last much longer.
